Pastor Agnes E. Taylor’s Bio

Elder Agnes Eggleston Taylor, the tenth of sixteen children, is a native of Keysville, Virginia; currently, she is a resident of Landover, Maryland.  She was married to the late Elder Freddie L. Taylor and is the proud mother of LaTanya Taylor Smith and stepmother of Roberta Booker Fauntroy.

Elder Taylor received her elementary and high school education in Lunenburg County, Virginia and graduated valedictorian in 1961.  Thereafter, she furthered her education by obtaining a certificate in General Business from the Cortez Peters Business College in Washington, D.C.  She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Divinity Degrees, with honors, from the New Hope and Life School of Religion and Seminary in Capitol Heights, Maryland.   Additionally, she has attended Prince George’s and Northern Virginia Community Colleges, U.S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School and the Central Bible Institute.  After thirty seven years of service to the Federal Government, she retired from the Department of Defense in July of 2000.

Elder Taylor was licensed to the Ministry in 1978 under the leadership of Elder Arthur Bell, former Pastor of New Born Church of God in the Spirit of Christ in Fairmount Heights, Maryland.  From October 2000 to October 2001, she served as the interim Pastor of Soul Saving Center of Christ, Inc. after the passing of her husband, Elder Freddie L. Taylor who was the Founder and Pastor for twenty-one years.  Under his tutelage, she served as the Assistant Pastor of Administration, a Sunday School Teacher, and Director of the Youth and Women Ministries.

She serves as a mentor for the District of Columbia Chapter of the Autism Society of America, a member of the Prince George’s Hospital Center Spiritual Services, an ad hoc member of the Annie Barnes Missionary Circle of the First Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church, a member of the Columbia Park Civic Association, a member of the American Association of Christian Counseling and through World Vision she supports the development and enrichment of families in Africa.  She is also part of the daily noonday prayer group held at Soul Saving Center of Christ and True Believers Pentecostal Church in Washington, DC.

On October 6, 2001, she was ordained as Pastor of the Soul Saving Center of Christ Incorporated.  As Pastor, she established an after school drug prevention program, inaugurated a community outreach program,  partners with global ministries in the spreading of gospel and to assist in the provision of economical, social and educational needs, and  completed phase 2 of construction projects initiated by the late Elder Freddie Taylor. 

By faith in 2003, she and her small congregation began working on expanding the current facility in order to better serve and meet the needs of the community.   November 2008 marked the manifestation of their faith!  The building was dedicated and named “The Soul Saving Center of Christ (SSCOC) Outreach Founder’s Hall” in honor of the founders.  Destiny, Power and Purpose (DPP) which is the Community Outreach entity of SSCOC occupies part of the expansion.  As she strives for excellence in Christ Jesus, she continues to receive training and instruction in the Word of God in order to be approved unto God a workman that need not to be ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth.  She continues to preach and teach the Word of God in simplicity and under the anointing of the Holy Ghost.
