Elder Freddie L. Taylor
Founder of SSCOC

ELDER FREDDIE L. TAYLOR was born in Brunswick County, Virginia on August 14, 1940, the eldest of three to Robert and Missouri Ann Graves Taylor.  He was educated in the Brunswick County Public Schools graduating at the age of fifteen from the James Solomon Russell High School.  Upon graduating, he attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia; later enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.

On May 1, 1965, he married Agnes Eunice Eggleston.  Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, LaTanya Renee Taylor Smith.

In 1977 he was healed and delivered from numerous of things.  After this miracle took place, he rededicated his life to Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Holy Ghost.

He was licensed and ordained as a Minister of the Gospel on July 1, 1979 by the New Born Church of God in the Spirit of Christ located in Fairmount Heights, Maryland.  Shortly after entering the ministry, the Holy Ghost impressed upon his heart that there was a tremendous need for organized spiritual teaching and training in the Body of Christ.  With this in mind, he sought the Lord through fasting and praying and the Lord enabled him to establish The Soul Saving Center of Christ, Inc.  This vision became a reality August 11, 1980 when the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were approved.

As a powerful pastor and teacher of the Gospel, Elder Taylor taught and led his flock in the paths of righteousness, insisting that in all circumstances faith, love and respect be preserved and demonstrated.  He worked lovingly, faithfully and sacrificially to revive and uplift “The least of these”, proclaiming to all, the way to salvation.  Through his leadership, the Lord allowed him and his small congregation to purchase property and build a facility that would accommodate 200 with offices and parking spaces at 909 – 43rd Place, N.E.  Washington, DC.

Elder Taylor went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2000 but he left a legacy that will never be obliterated.  Operating in the office of Pastor and Teacher, he taught and lived FAITH.   “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
