HISTORY OF SOUL SAVING CENTER OF CHRIST, INC.

The Spirit of God moved upon the late Elder Freddie L. Taylor.  He and his wife, Evangelist Agnes E. Taylor met in the home of Elder Charlie Poole and his wife, the late Prophetess Ada Poole to share his vision.  The name, Soul Saving Center of Christ, Inc. (SSCOC) had been given to him.  After the compilation of the Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws, they were submitted and approved, August 11, 1980.

We met faithfully in the Poole’s home,  praying, fasting, giving tithes and offerings, studying God’s Word, fellowshipping with the Saints and helping the poor and needy.  Three years later, April 19, 1983, we began to search for a place of worship.  After searching for a period of time, Elder Taylor was led to wait and continue services in the Poole’s home.  It was a trying time but praise God, we were reminded of James 3:4 – “Knowing this that the trying of your faith worketh patience.  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire wanting nothing.”  Luke 6:38 became very real to us – “Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom.  For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”  God blessed us abundantly because of our faith and obedience.

God led us to this current location and allowed us to build from the ground and complete the work five years after getting the plans approved.  On September 9, 1989, Dedication Service was held and we owed no man anything but to love him.  THANK YOU JESUS!

Construction on Phase II began December 1998 and suddenly, on October 20, 2000, during the construction Elder Freddie Taylor went home to be with the Lord.  We praise God for his legacy.  His profound teachings, instructions and examples will always be remembered.  One of his sayings was:  “After you have done all that you know that God has given you to do, the rest is left up to God.”  His motto was:  “Godly Knowledge gives Godly Wisdom and Power.”

Having sought the Lord in much prayer and fasting, his wife, Evangelist Agnes E. Taylor was installed and consecrated as Pastor of SSCOC, October 6, 2001.  The Lord continued to bless and allowed us to complete Phase II and Dedication was held, September 21, 2002.  A year later, February 22, 2003, due to circumstances beyond our control, we began working on Phase III.  After five years of sacrifices, disappointments, Gifts of help in operation, much, much prayer and fasting, God enabled us to complete and dedicate Phase III.  The building was dedicated, November 22, 2008 in honor of the Founders of SSCOC and is called The Founder’s Outreach Hall with part of it being occupied by Destiny, Power and Purpose, Inc. (DPP) an Outreach Ministry of SSCOC founded by Minister Deborah Corley.  Its mission is to reduce the rate of recidivism by helping individuals with substance abuse problems and those being release from the penal system to break the vicious cycle of repeated drug addiction and incarceration off their lived through empowerment.
